God’s Warning

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.  But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Colossians 4:18

A lot of us in this present time have been practicing idolatry, worshipping material things and celebrities instead of putting importance on the one who created it all, God.  When we pick our leaders now, the only thing we care about is if they can give us what we want regardless of whether they’re truthful, capable, trustworthy, and/or morally upright.  We as a collective have put more importance on money and our desires over loving our neighbors and helping those in need.  We don’t listen when someone warns us about what will happen if we don’t change our sinful ways.  As a result, God’s wrath has finally fallen upon us.

Right now, there are multiple cities around the world where you can barely find a person on the streets.  A lot of the money people have made in the stock market during the bull run has suddenly been wiped out.  The majority of events we would normally attend this time of the year have been cancelled or postponed.  And right now, there are thousands of people fighting a disease that a lot of us didn’t see as a serious threat about a month ago.  We were warned, we’re still being warned, and some people are still ignoring it.

Regardless of how you feel about our current leaders, Romans 13:1 ESV says, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”  God will allow certain things to happen in order for us to see the errors of our ways.  Now that we’re in this predicament, the authorities currently in place have been assigned to come up with a solution.

In relation to the coronavirus, when the authorities or government tells us to not gather in large crowds, we should take their advice and not do it.  When they advise us to wash our hands for thirty seconds with soap and warm water, we should do it (sad that we have to be told this, but hopefully more people will do it because of our current situation).

And, we need to listen to God’s advice if we don’t want to suffer more inflictions.  Instead of focusing on money and material things, the things some of us worship, we need to place our focus on the will of God and our fellow man.  Out of all the commands God gave us, it’s most important that we “…shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself (Luke 10:27, Matthew 22:37-40).” 

The Apostle Paul said, “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”  Kindness means to not gather in large crowds until this pandemic is over with, because if you get the coronavirus and you accidently pass it on to someone elderly, you might be putting their life at risk.  Humbleness of mind means admitting you don’t know how dangerous this disease is and taking precautions to make sure you and your loved ones are not at risk.  Longsuffering (patience) means that you tolerate and listen to the advice of people that have a different political viewpoint from the one you have in order to come up with a long-term solution in fixing this problem.

What I am saying here is not a gloom and doom prophecy; the things I’m saying are the things you see with your own two eyes.  My hope is for everyone to be safe and to help each other during this difficult time.  Most important of all, we need to repent of our sins and take the advice given to us by God (the Bible).
